You know how parents take their kids to the park? Or on a rare sunny day they sport the kiddos out on a walk, maybe with a bike rider in tow? Yeah, these things don’t happen over my way; it’s time to come out of the closet and admit – I don’t do that. Almost ever. When the rest of the world absolutely HAS to be outside and letting rambunctious play ensue with their growing thriving children, this particular Daddy Evolving usually says something like “but, why?”
So today I offer a celebration of stretching outside the norm. On Sunday we drove past one of the local parks (there are two within a block of my house) and suddenly I whipped the steering wheel to the right, pulled up to the curb, and half shouted “Quick! Get out and play while I’m possessed by some weird thing that makes me want to go to the park!”
And with that, I offer instagramic proof that I did, indeed, get my family into the sunlight. How ’bout that!
And when all that happy play and gooey sunshiney love was finished (or maybe – when Dad was kinda done) we returned home to don PJs and play a home-time favorite that all three of my chilis love (and play repeatedly, often, and frequently with surprise): Hop on Pop!
Since I can’t see why I shouldn’t wish all good things upon you, here’s hoping you have some park-time and definitely get a little “Hop on Pop” (or Mom) before the day is over!
Here’s to a day with playing and peace.
